The wool section at this year’s show concentrates on flock sheep classes, rewarding both local peninsula wool growers, and those from farther afield, as they improve their clip.
As usual, the wool section has a wide range of classes and offers good prizes and generous vouchers for those fleeces gifted to the show.
This years premier competition is for the most commercially valuable fleece coming from a commercial flock. This breadth of the class enables many breeds to be judged against each other, so we anticipate a very strong competition amongst the growers. Thanks to our generous sponsor NZ Wool Services, cash prize in this class alone is $100.
The wools section is not just about competition though; with both the section judge and convenor having many years of experience in the export trade, the show offers a great opportunity to discuss wool improvements and other prospects.
